Jennifer Alum

Jennifer Alum is a committed and passionate advocate for social change, justice, equity, and the promotion of fundamental human rights. With over seven years of progressive experience in the humanitarian and development sectors, she has worked with and supported a wide range of civil society and non-governmental organizations across Uganda, including Catholic Relief Services Uganda and the Land and Equity Movement in Uganda (LEMU), among others. Her work has focused primarily on human rights, community empowerment, and improving access to essential social services.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce and, driven by a deep commitment to meaningful impact, pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management. Jennifer is currently furthering her academic and professional growth by pursuing a Master of Arts in Human Rights, enhancing her expertise on human rights issues at the international, national, and grassroots levels.

Jennifer has a proven track record in program development, implementation, and management. Her core strengths include project coordination, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and the promotion of community-led initiatives. At the NCHRD-U Secretariat, she serves as the Program Assistant, where she plays a key role in the planning, execution, and monitoring of the organization’s programs. Her attention to detail, operational effectiveness, and dedication to inclusive development make her a valuable asset to the team.

Jennifer is particularly passionate about amplifying the voices of marginalized and underrepresented groups, including women, youth, persons with disabilities, and Human Rights Defenders (HRDs). She is deeply committed to creating safe and enabling spaces for HRDs to thrive and carry out their work effectively. Jennifer believes strongly in the power of grassroots action and policy advocacy to drive lasting, rights-based social transformation.
