Reports to: Manager Finance and Administration

Duty station: Kampala, with occasional travels upcountry

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provision of reliable and safe driving for staff, officials and visitors.
  • Safe delivery and collection of mail, documents or any other item placed under his/her care
  • Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean and tidy
  • Fill out a vehicle daily log sheet
  • Collect and file parking receipts for monthly review
  • Carry out weekly vehicle mechanical status checks on the assigned vehicle and report on the same
  • Report to his supervisor any major vehicle mechanical mal-functioning as soon as detected.
  • Ensure availability in the vehicle of required documents including proof of ownership, valid driving license, vehicle insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle logs, emergency phone contacts, first aid kit and quick access spare parts.
  • Comply fully with NCHRDU procedures on reporting of accidents involving NCHRDU vehicle under his or her care.
  • Ensure vehicle is parked safely when not in use
  • Ensure his actions are governed by the highest standards of personnel and business conduct as stipulated in the policy guidelines
  • Actively contribute to maintaining teamwork, discipline and sound work relationships and productivity.
  • Offer timely support to team members when called upon in undertaking other reasonably assigned tasks

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Driver must atleast hold an ordinary level certificate or its equivalent
  • Hold a valid clean computerized driving license
  • A minimum of 3 years driving experience
  • Should have B, CM and DL driving classes
  • Knowledge of Uganda Road Laws
  • Training in defensive driving
  • Certification in mechanics will be an added advantage
  • Good communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good command of English
