Mrs. Kiyai Dorothy Esther Ndiko the Protection Officer; responsible for overall management of the protection desk and setting strategies and operational measures to effectively respond to Human Rights Defenders(HRDs) at risk. She also oversees and manages individual protection cases on HRDs, registration , compilation of statistical information and other data concerning HRDs under the NCHRD-U's protection program. She participates in the needs assessment of HRDs and solicits financial and technical support from various sources including long-term support and one-time assistance to specific beneficiaries.The Protection Officer is also responsible for developing the basic Standard Operating Protection(SOPs) and a protection strategy that is entrenched in comprehensive protection manual.
The Protection Officer leads the HRD National Referral Network coordination mechanisms which includes the Sub Regional Referral Network. Shes also responsible for mapping periodically existing services to address challenges faced by HRDs in the various affected areas including identifying referral network members' community capacities and structures for practical partnership for protection. She is responsible for liasing with like-minded organizations for cooperation in the areas of protection and support for HRDs at risk.
